Carolyn “Kari” Laughlin, age 77 of Westfield, WI, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at her home. She was born Carolyn Louise Teske on July 14, 1945, in Berlin, WI, to parents Harvey and Connie Teske. Kari graduated from Westfield High School in 1963. She married William “Bill” Laughlin on May 24, 1969 in Westfield.
Creative, artistic, and imaginative, Kari loved to sew and craft, making clothing, home décor items and costumes. She was talented at decorating, floral arranging, sewing, crafting, and decorating for the holidays. Kari turned her sewing and crafting talents into a business, The Hunter’s Widow, in Westfield, selling her own and others handmade items for many years. Kari was instrumental in starting up the preschool in Westfield. She also helped develop, and participated in, the Westfield Area Taste and Tour. Kari worked for many years at the local grocery store in Westfield. In later years she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, making quilts and quilted items and working in her yard and garden. Kari especially enjoyed sitting on her front porch, watching birds, squirrels and other animals enjoying the many feeders in her yard. Kari was also an unofficial mom to many of her children's friends.
Kari was preceded in death by both her parents, Harvey and Connie Teske, brother, David Teske, sister, Kathryn (Teske) MacDonald, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Marge Laughlin, sister-in-law, Jean (Laughlin) Hooper, brother-in-law, Harold Hooper, and nephew, Tad Teske.
Kari is survived by her husband, Bill Laughlin of Westfield, daughter, Deborah (Greg) Vandevier of Kingman, AZ, son, William (Samantha) Laughlin of Portage, WI, son, Lawrence Laughlin of Manteno, IL, granddaughter, Emily (Seth Rubin) Vandevier of Mesa, AZ, granddaughter, Quinn Laughlin of Portage, grandson, Spencer Vandevier of Flagstaff, AZ, great-granddaughter, Rose Rubin of Mesa, AZ, sister-in-law, Jill (David Teske) Patterson of Owasso, OK, nieces, Dana (Teske) Thomas, Kelly (Hooper) Huber, Michele Rumery, Victoria Rumery, and nephews, Richard Rumery, Mark Rumery, Patrick Hooper, Michael Hooper, and Timothy Hooper, and other relatives and friends.
No service will be held at this time. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
