Carman Kenzel Yonke
Died Saturday October 27, 2007 in Brookfield, WI at the Care-Age of Brookfield Nursing Home. Born October 13, 1916 at Packwaukee, WI. Son of Henry and Esther (Johnson) Yonke.
Graduated from Westfield High School in 1934. Spent eight years from February 6, 1942 to February 17, 1950 in the US Marine Corp. Fought with the 2nd Marine Division at Guadalcanal and in numerous South Pacific campaigns. Worked 23 years for Western Electric in Chicago, IL until retirement in 1978.
Preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Elsie Yonke, Muriel Puddy and Frances Rank. Survived by one brother Jack (Mary Ann) Yonke of Castle Rock, CO; nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service for Carman was held on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield with Pastor Joe Adkins officiating. Interment was in Westfield South Cemetery, Westfield with full military honors. A visitation was held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
