Calvin Jacobson

Calvin G. Jacobson, age 83 of Westfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at his home. He was born on January 29, 1928 in Harvard, IL to Grover and Ella (Bussewitz) Jacobson. Cal served his country with the United States Army. He married Belle Dunn on April 3, 1954 in Grand Marsh. Cal worked on the family farm for several years until becoming an insurance agent in 1968. He joined State Farm Insurance in 1970 and operated his own agency in Westfield until his retirement in 1999. Following his retirement he started spending his winters in Texas. Cal enjoyed flying his own plane, traveling with his wife, building radio controlled model air planes and working in his work shop where he was an avid wood worker.

Survivors include three nephews, John, Terry (Rose) and Gary (Gloria) Jacobson; special friend, Jim Leonard, TX; great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Cal was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Rasmus “Gus” and Kenneth Jacobson; nephew, Larry Jacobson.

A funeral service for Cal will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield with Pastor Barb Merwin officiating. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery, Town of Harris. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Memorials would be appreciated to Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.
