Alvina W. Jahnke, age 104 of Westfield, joined her Lord and Maker on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Montello Care Center. She was born on June 10, 1910 to Gustav and Amy (Calder) Wobschal in Town of Springfield. Alvina was Baptized on July 3, 1910 by Rev. Martin Mueller and Confirmed on August 12, 1923 by Rev. O.L. Messerschmidt. She married Herman A. Jahnke on August 28, 1935 in Waukegan, IL. Herman preceded her in death on June 5, 1999.
Alvina was employed by Brakebush Brothers for many years. She loved to travel, grow beautiful plants and flowers, play cards and visit with family and friends. Alvina was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Springfield and then Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield and the Ladies Aid.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Alvina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Martha Wobschal, Ella Henke and Emma Spath; three brothers, Fred, Albert and Gust Wobschal.
A funeral service for Alvina will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield with Rev. Gary H. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield.
