Alden Vander Sande, age 84 of Neshkoro, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008 at Berlin Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 4, 1923, son of the late John and Ada (Alden) Vander Sande. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1941 and at the age of 18 joined the Army Air Force. He spent 4 years in the European War Theatre during WWII in Italy and North Africa.
On June 19, 1948 he was united in marriage to Luverne Daye at the Zion Methodist Church in Neshkoro. They were blessed with three children and they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past June. He worked for 35 years for the Sheboygan Highway Department. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and gardening.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Luverne; his daughter-in-law, Joan; his daughter, Brenda (Mike) Cornell and son Paul (Patty) Vander Sande; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Lee) Watson, Melissa (Ben) Hill, Amber Vander Sande, Samuel, Michala and Kezra Cornell, Jonathan and Matthew Vander Sande; seven great grandchildren, Preston Vander Sande, Noah, Zoe and Lily Watson, Adelyn and Maxwell Hill and Ethan Cornell; two sisters, Joyce Moehr and Audrey Cascante; other relatives and friends. Alden was preceded in death by one son, Alden Jeffrey Vander Sande.
A funeral service for Alden will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, Neshkoro, with Rev. Robert Blackburn officiating. Interment will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Neshkoro. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
